Reflections on the Musical “Likes & Lies” | 16 November 2025
Art often opens doors to conversations that feel difficult to start elsewhere.
On 16 November 2025, Peak II Foundation had the opportunity to attend “Likes & Lies,” a musical presented by WestK Performing Arts in collaboration with the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation. Set against the backdrop of social media and digital identity, the performance explored how young people navigate friendship, love, and self‑worth in a world shaped by constant visibility.
Through the stories of Savannah and Chun, the musical portrayed struggles that are increasingly familiar: the pressure to present a perfect image, the influence of peers and online validation, and the quiet distance that can grow between one’s public persona and private reality. These challenges were not framed as personal failings, but as reflections of the environments young people inhabit every day.
What made the performance resonate was its invitation to pause and reflect. In a culture where “likes” and “shares” are often treated as measures of worth, the story asked a gentler question: what does it mean to remain honest with oneself? It reminded the audience that behind every curated image is a human being trying to belong, to be accepted, and to be understood.
At Peak II Foundation, we believe that supporting the next generation means creating space for reflection — not only for young people, but for the adults and communities around them. Conversations about mental wellbeing, identity, and authenticity are not optional in a digital age; they are essential.
We are grateful to WestK Performing Arts and the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation for presenting a work that encourages dialogue, empathy, and self‑awareness. Through stories like “Likes & Lies,” art becomes more than performance — it becomes a quiet companion in helping us navigate a complex and changing world.
