Exploring Inclusion Through Dialogue
St. James' Settlement Jockey Club Social Service Building, Wan Chai | 19 Oct 2025
Inclusion is not built through declarations, but through conversations that invite understanding, responsibility, and shared action.
Peak II Foundation was honoured to take part in a dialogue under the Jockey Club Collaborative Project for Inclusive Employment, joining partners and practitioners in reflecting on what it means to build a society where everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute, and belong.
The discussion explored inclusive employment not as a single solution, but as an evolving practice shaped by real lives and diverse experiences. Participants reflected on existing models, ongoing challenges, and emerging possibilities — including new forms of flexible and “slasher” work that are reshaping how people engage with employment. At the heart of these conversations was a shared recognition: inclusion is not about fitting people into systems, but about shaping systems that respond to people.
This perspective resonates closely with Peak II Foundation’s mission. We believe that dignity begins when individuals are trusted with agency — when they are supported not only to work, but to grow, choose, and contribute in ways that reflect their strengths. An inclusive society depends on collective participation: it is sustained when people approach difference with openness, and when institutions uphold values of equality, respect, and shared responsibility.
What stood out was not consensus, but willingness. While the ideas discussed will require continued testing, adjustment, and collaboration, each exchange represented a step forward — creating more choices, and widening the space for participation.
Peak II Foundation is grateful for opportunities such as this that allow ideas to meet practice. We look forward to continued dialogue and partnership as we work, step by step, toward a society where inclusion is not an aspiration, but a lived reality.
We extend our sincere thanks to St. James’ Settlement for the invitation, and to speakers Pei Lo C and Joe Chan for sharing their insights, as well as the art assistants who supported the session.
